Online Gambling Experts Say Recent Developments Will Have Impact
10 Sep 2006
A new MECN survey analyzed how the gambling industry sees the current critical issues, namely those regarding the detainment and arrest of two CEO's of leading gambling companies that operate online, as well as what potential strategic approaches could look like. The consulting firm, MECN, presented the results of their newest survey "Future of Online Gambling after the Shockwaves". Nearly 100 industry experts offered their unique insights and evaluations regarding the recent developments the online gambling industry currently faces.
The private gambling industry online has suffered quite a few blows in the past months with the Goodlatte/Leach Bill (online gambling prohibition bill) passing in the US House of Representatives, the CEO of online sports book Bet On Sports being arrested by the FBI, and the high courts in Germany limiting the validity of private betting licenses. These may seem overwhelming enough for the gambling industry online, but they are just a few of the recent shockwaves the industry has endured in the past months.
The nearly 100 respondents to MECN's survey, of which the majority work for gambling companies online and including many industry leaders, offered insights and assessments regarding issues such as the impact on the gambling industry online these recent events would have. A total of 98 percent of online gambling experts believe that the recent events will have a medium-term impact on the industry. Online casinos players and industry leaders can only wait and see if these experts will be proven correct.
